Audiovision is a new brilliant melodic hardrock/metal act from Sweden including former Narnia singer Christian Rivel and Lion Share?s axeman Lars Chriss who has also produced this album. The sound is heavy and the production is powerful and top-notch. Rest of the band is Mikael H?glund(bass ex- Great King Rat, Thunder), Thomas Broman(drums ex- Great King Rat, Glenn Hughes) and Andreas Lindahl(keyboards) so you can see that this is a high quality line-up. The guestlist is even stronger with names like Mats Leven, Thomas Vikstr?m, Mattias "IA" Eklundh, Mic Michaeli, Bruce Kulick, Janne Stark and Tony Franklin to name the biggest once.Tommy Denander is another guest and he has co-written couple of songs on the album and contributed with his brilliant guitarwork. This is a album that will please fans of Edguy, Masterplan and through in some traces of Lion Share and you will one helluva time with this album. This is a heavy album but they have manage to come up with awesome melodies and everytime you listen to it you find new parts on the album that sounds brilliant. This is a album that will even grow after couple of spins.They have come up with a strong cover version of Sweet?s Love Is Like Oxygen were Christian shares the lead vocals with Jeff Scott Soto, superb stuff. More highlights is the fantastic up-tempo rocker Read Between The Lines that turns up the heat in the chorus that is filled with rifffantastic guitars with a awesome guitarsolo and powerful background vocals. Fasten you seatbelts when you listen to Evil Or Divine because this one rocks hard as hell with a strong catchy chorus. The right in your face smasher Face To Face will make you play some airguitars and while you do that you cant avoid to listen to the wonderful solo from Mr. Kulick.Powermetal freaks will love the Masterplan sound-a-like Show Me The Way with a strong catchy chorus with sing-a-long feel over it, great stuff.This was a big surprise from Audivision that has come up with a strong hardrock/metal album in the highest level. You have to check out this if your into heavy melodic hardrock done with quality.Audiovision is a project featuring NARNIA frontman Christian Rivel and guitarist Lars Chriss (Lion?s Share),there are many famous names as guestmusicians on the album:Tony Franklin-Bass,Bruce Kulick-Guitars,Tommy Denander-Guitars,Mic Michaeli-Keyboards,Jeff Scott Soto-Vocals and Thomas Wikstrom-Vocals to name a few. The sound reminds me of the new wave of British Heavy Metal - there?s no doubt the class behind the work is topnotch so expect nothing more than true metal based hardrock performed from the heart on "The Calling". People that find metal and hardrock more interesting after the grunge explosion in the early 90?s should look away coz this is a step back to Accept?s Restless and Wild,Saxon?s Wheels of steel and Dio?s Holy Diver. Their version of Sweet?s "Love is like oxygen" is a modern classic and the instrumental piece "Colors" features some great fretless bass work from Tony Franklin but the best original tracks with vocals are "The king is alive" and "Evil or divine",denim and leather,ohyeah! Christian Rivel, connu avant tout pour être le chanteur de Narnia, n'aime pas rester longtemps sans activité entre deux albums de son groupe principal. Il multiplie donc les projets de toutes sortes, nous offrant pas moins de trois opus dans des styles bien différents quasi simultanément. Le plus sérieux de ces projet crée conjointement avec le guitariste de Lion's Share, Lars Chriss étant celui qui nous intéresse ici... il se nomme Audiovision. Résolument Heavy et accrocheur, "The calling" est plus qu'une bonne surprise. Dès les premières mesures, on pressent que l'on a affaire à du sérieux. Christian y est impérial, la section rythmique percutante, les solos bien en place et de discrets claviers évitent de faire plonger Audiovision dans une vision trop passéiste de la musique. Les guest, s'enchaînent les uns après les autres apportant une certaine classe au Heavy déjà varié du groupe. Parmi ces derniers, on peut citer Tony Franklin de Blue Murder à la basse, Mic Michaeli d'Europe aux claviers, Bruce Kulick de Kiss ou Matthias Eklundh de Freak Kitchen à la guitare, Eric Clayton de Saviour Machine ou encore Mats Leven, Thomas Vikstrom et Jeff Scott Soto au chant, rien que ça ! Chacun y allant de sa petite contribution à l'édifice monumental façonné par Christian Rivel. Parmi les réussites, le puissant et limite stoner "Read betwenn the lines" est réellement une petite merveille et que dire du surprenant "Love is like oxygen" typiquement Rock progressif des années 70, bien pompeux, une petites perles croisement entre Queen et Kansas où Jeff Scott Soto fait une nouvelle fois la preuve de son très grand talent de vocaliste. Puissant, varié, accrocheur et... surprenant, Audiovision surclasse en tout point Narnia. Contrairement à ce dernier, "the Calling", malgré sa pléiade d'invités et de talents, ne sombre jamais dans le démonstratif. Les morceaux se s'étalent jamais inutilement en longueur et Christian veille à maintenir une certaine cohérence, en premier lieu vocale entre des morceaux pourtant bien hétéroclites mais toujours fédérateurs. Si un seul des trois combo crée parallèlement à Narnia par Christian devait survivre, cela devrait sans hésitation être celui ci Derrière ce nom insignifiant se cache un nouveau groupe Suédois qui nous livre un album très convaincant dont la principale base musicale est constituée d’un Heavy Metal en vogue au début des années 90. Le groupe bénéficie d’un son très Heavy, composé d’une structure assez classique accompagnée d’un chant puissant, clair et assez polyvalent. Bien qu’il n’y ait pas de grosses innovations à retenir, quelques petites touches de progressif viennent enrichir le tout, discrètement ; elles permettent à cet album d’affirmer sa personnalité et de s’écarter des nombreux clichés.Le répertoire Heavy classique est passé en revue : Speed mélodique sur “Show Me The Way”, riff lourds sur l’excellent “The Calling”, Heavy mélodique : “The King Is Alive”, une belle power-ballade “Read Between The Lines”, Heavy traditionnel sur “Face To Face”. Et, comme je l’ai dit précédemment, une pincée de progressif. Il faut ajouter quelques bizarreries : “Hold Me” qui sonne comme un morceau d’opéra Rock (chœurs Disco, piano, breaks, etc.) ou cette drôle d’idée de terminer par un instrumental pâlichon.Tout est à sa place et l’on n’aura pas de raison de se plaindre de l’interprétation précise (le chant et les solos sont particulièrement remarquables), qui trouve un bon équilibre entre mélodie et puissance.Le clavier est discret mais presque toujours présent ; pour expliquer ce paradoxe, il faut vanter un adroit dosage qui permet d’enrichir les compositions sans les saturer d’un instrument qui risquerait d’émousser les guitares.Dans le line up, on retrouve quelques connaissances : Lars Chriss (LION’S SHARE) au chant, l’ancien batteur de Glenn Hughes, Thomas Broman, et le bassiste de THUNDER, Mikael Höglund. Il faut aussi noter la présence de quelques guests prestigieux - eux aussi convaincus des qualités du groupe : Bruce Kulick (KISS), Jeff Scott Soto (SOUL SIRKUS), Mic Michaeli (EUROPE), Tony Franklin (BLUE MURDER) ainsi que Mattias IA Eklundh (FREAK KITCHEN)(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
