BIOGRAPHY/REVIEWS(http://www.myspace.com/holybloodband)
Holy Blood combines traditional folk music with the speed and heaviness of death and black metal. The frequent use of instruments not often found in hard music, such as the flute and keyboards, along with several different vocal styles results in a full and distinctive sound that the band pulls off rather well. Compared to their first two albums, The Patriot is slightly heavier and has a stronger Viking metal influence a la Slechtvalk. The Patriot shows that Holy Blood is well accomplished at what they do; however, the album is relatively short and lacks any standout tracks like those found on their last release, Waves Are Dancing. Still, this is a solid album that provides a unique listening experience.

REVIEW FOR THE ALBUM(Waves Are Dancing )
Folk and extreme metal collide on Holy Blood's second album. Holy Blood hails from Ukraine and interleaves Celtic folk with the speed riffing and technicality of death and black metal. Holy Blood first sprang onto the scene with the well-accepted "The Wanderer", which hinted at Celtic influences but focused on straightforward death and black metal. "Waves Are Dancing" serves as a natural progression, as flutes are effortlessly integrated with the driving guitars, adding in more folk melodies and creating an atmosphere of beauty and brutality. The result is 10 songs plus a video of the standout track "The Spring". Holy Blood is recommended for fans of Finntroll, Moonsorrow, Falkenbach, Eluveitie, and anyone who enjoys pagan, folk, or extreme metal. When I want metal, I want something gripping but still melodic and musical. I've had great luck with the folk/Viking metal subgenres, where the reference standard is Ensiferum and related acts like Wintersun. It can be hard to see where folk metal ends and melodic death metal begins, and I got "Waves Are Dancing" by Holy Blood in a gamble to expand my playlist, and was *richly* rewarded. This is what I think "folk" metal ought to sound like, with lush use of traditional melodies and instruments, and well-crafted vocal harmonies that compliment the vocals (which are harsh but carefully restrained). The overall effect is immersive and even atmospheric, but I guarantee these boys from the Ukraine are METAL in the best sense of the term.

REVIEW FOR THE ALBUM(The Patriot)
Folk/metal pioneers Holy Blood released their third full length recording on Bombworks Records July, 2008. Hailing from the Ukraine, their debut folk/offering titled The Wanderer gained the attention of collectors and gatekeepers. They followed it up with the more polished sophomore recording titled Waves Are Dancing, moving more toward a folk/metal sound, while maintaining the aggression of black and death metal. On their strongest effort to date titled The Patriot, the band mixes symphonic black metal with a more polished folk/metal approach, great melodies, and plenty of aggression. It is powerful, brutal, and beautiful simultaneously. The blend of powerful dynamics, brutal vocals, brilliant guitar work, angelic female vocals, and ultra tight musicianship truly make this an amazing listening experience. Holy Blood demonstrates why they have become one of the leaders in the folk/metal movement. Fans of Finntroll, Ensiferum, Moonspell, Eluveitie, Falkenbach, and death, black, and folk metal lovers with love this recording. It was released on Bombworks Records July, 2008. Returning once more with a killer full length production after their smashing and eye-opening Celtic, death infused black metal debut release entitled \"The Wanderer\" in 2004 and sophomore release \"Waves are Dancing\" in 2005 on Bombworks Records, Holy Blood\'s long awaited third release is here! Once more, but with much darker emphasizes and elements, Holy Blood lambasts the metal world with mighty folk-laden intense riffs, shrieking, extreme vocals by the founder and rhythm guitarist Fedor Buzilevich (Requital), flutes, keyboards, backing female vocals, and double-bass drum blastbeats will bring all who listen to their knees! Where \"The Wanderer\" and \"Waves are Dancing\" were strong and foreboding with metalized folk elements, brutal harmonizing, and natural atmospheric tendencies that lead the listener to envision olden days of ancient lands, mystic forests, and the mystery of eternal truths throughout the ages, \"The Patriot\" is all the more impressive, forcing the listener to grow on this journey of life! Hands down on the floor in prostrate... one of the best albums possibly to ever be produced. Definitely the best to come from Ukraine, which in the same time set the bar of excellence extremely high for all who were and are to follow. Rest assured \"The Patriot\" will find its way into the history books of metallum in the not so distance future. Included along with the great songs \"The Patriot\" and \"Well Tried Faith\". the CD dawns the powerful music video from the enchanting and mesmerizing hit song \"The Patriot\". Sung in their own native language, Holy Blood has the English lyrics available in the insert this time (the first of the 3 albums to do so) while the lyrics to the other albums are located on their official site (www.holyblood.org.ua ) for all to see. The artwork and layout of the cd are magnificent and by far the best the band has ever had! You have got to see it for yourself! Fans of Holy Blood will also love the releases by their fellow countrymen Evroklidon, Angel 7, and the side project by Fedor Buzilevich and Mihail Rodionov named Requital that also showcased some previously unreleased Holy Blood tracks in 2003,Folk metal stalwarts Holy Blood unleash their third album with The Patriot. Hailing from Ukraine, Holy Blood surprised the metal scene with their death / black metal debut The Wanderer. They followed up their debut with an even more polished sound in Waves Are Dancing, moving more toward a folk metal sound while maintaining the aggression of black and death metal. The Patriot sees the band taking further strides while delivering what is easily their strongest effort to date. Mixing symphonic black metal with a more polished folk metal approach, great melodies, and plenty of aggression, The Patriot is powerful, aggressive, and beautiful all at the same time. The blend of powerful dynamics, brutal vocals, brilliant guitar work, angelic female vocals, and ultra tight musicianship truly make this an amazing listening experience.
