REVIEWS FOR THE ALBUM(Dichotomy)
Becoming the Archetype was a band that I had to 'get into'. I first purchased "Terminate Damnation" due to word of mouth and wasn't too impressed on the first spin. It took awhile to grow on me as most really worth while bands tend to do, but when I finally 'got it', I couldn't stop listening! The musical spirit filled adventure this band takes you on is like no other! "The Physics of Fire" is no different, but I am not writing a review for that record. "Dichotomy", There are no words that can do this record justice... or at least just mine. From the first second to the last this record will pull you in and leave you begging for more, as a matter of fact I really do want more, this record only has 10 tracks and one of which is a short acoustic instrumental. If only they could have included two or three more tracks I would truly be satisfied, but the lyrics on this record are faith based, truly heart felt and inspirational, the lyrics on this record have truly moved me,The songs are cleaner, more muscular all the things that BTA was on the verge of doing have been reached here. In a lot of ways, especially The Drumming, it seems less manic then the past two albums which works well with the sound BTA projects. Don't get me wrong, they are still a fast, Harsh Death Band with some core just with less dross on the edges. They are now in the class of elite Modern Death Metal Bands yet may not ever be as known as others due to lyrical content. Maintaining the focus on God and that in a positive way may keep many listeners away which is too bad because this is some strong music if you like this style,.Dichotomy blew me away. BTA has definitely set the bar at a new level with this album. I had a hard time getting into their last album, but I eventually fell in love with it. However, I immediately fell in love with Dichotomy. I can't get enough. I find riffs from the album running through my head throughout the day. Becoming the Archetype's 'Dichotomy' is definitely one of my top albums of that year. The Guitars Are Crushing: Great Catchy Riffs, Heavy tone, awesome Solos. There are also some really Cool Keyboard Elements on the album adding depth to BTA's blend of metal. I think The Vocals are better on this album than the last also. I would recommend this one to anyone, some of the songs contain what sounds like 1980's Guitar Solos. But most of the time I simply overlook that because The Rhythm Guitar gives it a little extra intensity,It is awesome, extremely well produced, forceful even worshipful lyrics, representing exceptional energy and talent.Becoming The Archetype has done it again. this time they have included Keyboard textures in their music. I have never known any other Christian metalcore bands to sing hymns, but Becoming The Archetype has included "How Great Thou Art" on this album on track no. 8. track no.2 Has A Solo on it so evidently the band is more than A Metalcore Band. it sounds like they are a Christian melodic death metal band.I love this band. I listened to the black/death metal equivalents in the 80s and 90s and then it turned... screamo nu-metal which was disappointing. This band is amazing. Their technical ability as musicians has really blown my mind.

REVIEW FOR THE ALBUM(The Physics of Fire)
A Mix of Catchy Edge of Sanity-style Death Metal, Grinding Blast Beats and Metalcore-attitude,Fire is an apt way to describe this album, 'cause it smokes. Losing two members and adding one (Alex from Aletheian, and we know he can be technical) hasn't taken away from this groups sound at all, it's as heavy and as technical as ever. The album opens by easing you into it with a little instumental softness then the pummeling ensues at full force. The first song especially reminds me of something a Communic or Scar Symmetry might do at their heaviest and has a Melodic Death metal feel that the album never quite reaches again. If you liked the last one you should really dig into this and discover the greatness it holds. The one thing holding it back is falling into some metalcore boringness at times and the clean singer does not do a very good job. Other then that it is a sonic brain cleaning that brings the metal and the lyrics are very Biblically focused again. BTA is bringing the metal and showing that christians can be as loud and as technical as any band out there. And Another, thing I can say is that this album is a lot different from the first. While the first seemed to sort of carry on in the same death-metalcore style previous trekked out by legendary band Living Sacrifice, this Disc definately heads in a more progressive direction. All I can say is that the lineup change with adding Kenis in on Lead Guitar Made them go where few (American) Christian metal bands have gone in recent years. While the last album was somewhat lacking in technically challenging lead guitar parts, The Physics of Fire is chock-full of Guitar Solos and licks that would make any lover of Steve Vai, And Rusty Cooley, or John Petrucci cry, And Mixing elements of 80's heavy metal,Classical, Metalcore, Deathcore and even Medieval/Progressive Undertones, "Becoming The Archetype" has crafted one of the finest metal albums I've ever heard. The lyrics are wonderful and deal with Biblical issues and themes (refreshing and motivating in a sea of downer metal bands) and the concept of the album (while seemingly abstract) is wholly thought provoking and interesting. If you like death metal vocals (a.k.a. Ryan Clark) with a metalcore twist (August Burns Red) with a dash of gothic fantasy metal and a whole lot of progressive goodness...The music is outstanding in that it goes beyond the heavyiness that is contains, so I would put it as a progressive death-metalcore, if that makes sense. For those of you who say Christians should not preach with metal music, let me ask you this, why does it not bother you that Satanists or Odinists or even Ithyphallists can get away with preaching against Christians, but Christians can't do similarly? For you Christians who say no Christian should do metal, due to it's intensity, when the great triblulation comes, at God's hand, will that not be intense as well? Enough of my soapboxing. Again the album is great,(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
