REVIEW:
Attic Symphony is the band project of Guitarist Robert Bussey. In 2001 Robert released his first solo project entitled "The Faultline Dance" which saw him branchng out from his more metal stylings to include fingerstyle textures and intricate rhythms to compliment his tasteful soloing described as "Rock Guitar with a Symphonic Flair". 2004's Attic Symphony saw a return to the heavier stylngs of past efforts as he introduced new instrumental renditions of his previous work with a band from the late '80's. The name Attic Symphony was coined as a description of digging these songs out of the musical "attic", giving them a fresh coat of paint (new production) and releasing it to new ears through CD Baby. The name has worked well and has a nice ring so Robert has decided to continue moving forward with the 2007 release "Attic Symphony II - Cold, Vast and Severe". Stay on the look out for a live line up of Attic Symphony at some point in the near future.http://robertigno.webs.com/

BIOGRAPHY:
Attic Symphony, the music project of Guitarist Robert Bussey, brings to the forefront An Orchestrated Rock Guitar sound.Robert grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and became a music lover at a very young age. During early childhood he became enthralled with the likes of Johnny Cash (who once walked by and gave Robert a pat on the head at age 4), Roger Miller, Glen Campbell and Jerry Reed. By the time he took up the Guitar at age 11, He Was a Huge fan of The Eagles and Paul McCartney . Throughout his teens his playing took a turn towards progressive hard rock and he became known around Roanoke as a guitar force to be reckoned with. During his early 20s Robert moved to Washington DC to jump into a larger pond. His style became more metal as he became lead Guitarist for the bands Taker and Talkingtown / R.E.X recording artists Armageddon. Armageddon's album The Money Mask was released to a worldwide audience and sold thousands of copies both in the States and a broad garnering the band an impressive cult following . Armageddon's 1990 tour included the prestigious Z- Rock Metal Fest in Kansas City and a Record Release Barbeque for the band Firehouse in New York.( Important update - Armageddon's "The Money Mask" has been re-issued by Retro-Active Records and the band has reformed to record a new album which Robert is writing material for)Throughout the 90s, Robert's playing became much more diverse as he began teaching guitar for a living. It was important to stay current on several styles of music to take on a wide range of students. During this time Robert became skillful at acoustic fingerstyle guitar. He also came to appreciate the country picking of Albert Lee, Danny Gatton, Brent Mason and Doyle Dykes. He still maintained his Rock chops as he formed a band called The Calm with his wife / vocalist Ellyn. He also recorded his seminal instrumental solo effort called The Fault Line Dance. In 2002, Robert played in the band Valediction on the song "The End Of The Beginning" for the Lion Records release Warmth In The Wilderness II, a tribute to former David Lee Roth Guitarist Jason Becker who was afflicted with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Robert joined the ranks of many world class Guitarists such as Steve Vai and Marty Friedman for this moving tribute. In 2004, Robert released a CD through CD Baby called Attic Symphony which has some of his most searing guitar work to date. Since moving to Charlotte, NC, he has continued to teach guitar at his own instructional facility called Guitar Training Station. With the release of 2007's Attic Symphony II: Cold Vast and Severe, Robert wears his Jeff Beck and David Gilmour influences on his sleeve. Don't get me wrong this is not emulation or a cheap derivative. Just the same introspection and attention to detail that these lengendary guys are known for. Inspired by renowned author and Christian thinker C.S. Lewis, Robert takes his concept of "Northerness", Lewis' description of his moments of childhood spiritual hunger, and puts it to music. That hunger was described as being cold, vast and severe, like northern skies and was both a hunger and satisfaction simultaneously. Robert taps into that emotion of bittersweet melancholy as he attempts to instrumentally tell the story of each song title. Some of these songs bear all of the harshness of winter, with the beauty and brightness of a snowy landscape lit by sunlight.Robert's musical roots go way back. His Mom and Aunt were a singing duo who used to perform on T.V. with the Statler Brothers back in their teens and his Aunt won the title of Virginia Female Vocalist of the Year in 1957. Robert's grandmothers first cousin was Kelly Harrell, who was one of the first artists to be signed to RCA Victor and released a string of hits. His grandfather is a retired train engineer who engineered steam locomotives for Norfolk and Western most notably the infamous Class A and Class J locomotives. He once had a young passenger by the name of Elvis Presley .What About The Album " Attac Symphony " ,When the opening track "The Fire Inside" comes roaring from your speakers, it becomes quite clear that Attic Symphony has very little to do with violins and harps. Instead it's more about the approach that was taken to create this exciting music. This sound is best described as well orchestrated Epic Metal with distinct Melodic Hooks.Even though this approach boasts nothing new in the world of hard rock and metal, the general consensus about this Album is that the music sounds fresh yet familiar. There is a classic vibe to this Album that hails back to the day of packed concert arenas, walls of amps, Massive Drum kits and larger than life onstage theatrics. But Attic Symphony doesn't stop there. This music will stir your soul in a way that goes far beyond mere entertainment. It sweeps you up and takes you for a ride and then drops you off leaving you feeling somewhat better about life. But hey isn't that what good music is supposed to do? http://www.myspace.com/atticsymphony

Do you remember this band? Were you even born yet? Probably not. Twenty-five years ago, these guys didn't really strive for commercial success, but stayed true to their calling - ministering to the lost, disenfranchised, lonely people. On stage, The Omega Band was exciting and refreshing. Whether playing for 7,000 or 70, they always gave 100 percent in every performance. As servants of the Lord, they were servants of their audience. They made every effort to be accessible to anyone who had questions or was in need of prayer both before and after shows. They poured out their hearts sharing the good news that Jesus died on the cross and rose again for you and me! We hope you enjoy these songs from the past. We'll periodically rotate some songs from various Omega demos and live recordings. God bless you all! "And I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again." - Philippians 1:6 (NLT)An article from 1985 summed up the ministry of The Omega Band...In music today there is a renaissance of sorts. There is a return to the simplicity and freshness of the 50's and 60's combined with the electronic complexity of the 1980's. A new genre, or "new wave" of rock has emerged for a new generation of young people. At the crest of the new wave of Christian rock is The Omega Band. Playing bold and exciting music that blazes new trails in contemporary Christian music, The Omega Band stands firm upon the Rock of Salvation, Jesus Christ.Formed in late 1980, The Omega Band shares the good news of Jesus Christ through the powerful medium of rock and roll. Their music is geared toward two, often overlooked segments of the population. First and foremost, they reach out to young people who don't yet know the Lord, Jesus Christ. Second, they minister to young Christians by presenting edifying lyrics set to the type of music young people enjoy most. Above all, the band's desire is to bring glory to God in everything they do."They really love the Lord," says Christian recording artist, Darrell Mansfield, "and they really want to minister." Music Connection magazine said, "The Omega Band sounds good, with good vocals." The Register, Orange County's largest newspaper said, "Omega's sound is unique among Christian bands, and non-Christian (or secular) bands as well. Their influences range from the Cars and Police to progressive hard rock bands, and their sound incorporates everything from punk, soul, and new wave to electronic music." (The Register, April 22, 1983)In the last five years, The Omega Band has played in numerous churches, schools, prisons, clubs, parks and on beaches throughout southern California. THey were featured on the 1984 compilation album, "What's Shakin'", released by M.R.C. The band also released a 45 on the now defunct secular record label, Taboo Records.God, and no one else, has formed this band of dedicated Christian musicians. Each memeber's talents and influences combine to make their "techno-pop" sound accessible to a broad range of young people, from "rockers" to "new wavers". God has shaped the band into a tight, family-like unit. The Omega Band ministers effectively through the limitless power of the Holy Spirit.http://www.myspace.com/theomegaband,.

The year? Nineteen-eighty-something or other The band? Spectra The music? Glam Rock The Reason? Well anyway, what started off as a vision in the convoluted mind of one Bob Wasson turned into a realized dream in the form of four whacked out guys from Southern California. Rick Doucette was on drums, Joe Doherty on second guitar & Martin DeBourge on screaming vocals and basic bass (how hard is it to ride the "E"?) Here we are, years (and years) later and we're posting the evidence of our past on the world wide web for the entire world to see. I had these photos locked away under lock and key - even denied knowing who those girls where when my kids asked who the pretty ladies were in this picture. Perhaps I'm airing my dirty laundry to see if the ol' knickers still fit... perhaps I secretly long for dressing this way again (not hardly)... perhaps having a good laugh at ourselves is the first major step in the healing process. All kidding aside, this was a great time in our young lives. Sharing the Gospel and not having a legitimate care in the world... fearless & sometimes reckless as we travailed the dirty streets of San Pedro on the way to the Waters Club or blatantly waltzing down Hollywood Blvd looking like that on our way to The Troubadour. Spectra really did have a heart for what we did - if we opened up for the Bullet Boys or Deliverance - we gave the audience a show they would not forget (no matter how hard they tried). So where are you Matt Hammer? Bob? Rick? Joe? Marty? How about those bootlegger fans? Somebody out there has some pics and/or demo stuff for us to post on this site... hurry up, the world is waiting (like they're waiting for diet fresca). ...oh, and one last note: "Spectra" was taken by another myspace user - and so was "spectraband" - so what the heck, let's just call this page "ChristianGlam" and see if we cant collect a cacophony (or plethora) of images and links for the (might still be alive) world of Christian Glam Rock that is all THIS JUST IN: Vintage video footage, the sound and vision is horrible(who need high def Spectra anyway!) - this is our performance at Midnight Metal Madness at the old Arlington Theater in Riverside, CA - we opened up for Guardian (pre-Jaimie Rowe!)http://www.myspace.com/christianglam

REVIEW FOR THE BAND:MAX BLAM JAM:After my first round in Deliverace, Glenn Rogers and I began writing songs together in a style very different from our previous bands. We recruited Cesar Ceregatti on bass, who had played with Glenn in Steel Vengeance, and Cesar's cousin Daniel Ceregatti on drums. We played a few shows in Southern California and disbanded after about a year. We recorded a demo at a 16-track studio in Woodland Hills. Some of the songs included were Apathy's Child, Rescue Me, Because, and the original version of The Desert Song. Daniel is now living in Brazil, Cesar is in Long Beach - not sure what he is up to, Glenn is playing guitar for Hirax and Once Dead.http://www.myspace.com/briankhairullah .(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)

The nineties represent an underrated era in the history of Christian metal. A period in which Veni Domine (Fall Babylon Fall), Holy Soldier (Holy Soldier), Novella (One Big Sky), Red Sea (Blood) and Recon (Behind Enemy Lines) put out critically acclaimed debut releases, the decade also featuring grounding breaking albums from established artists such as Bride (Snakes In The Playground), Deliverance (Learn), Guardian (Fire & Love), Ken Tamplin (Tamplin) and Rez Band (Lament). A burgeoning independent scene characterized the nineties as well, including the likes of Scarlet Rayne, Broken Silence, Regime, Driver, White Ray, Chosen Stranger, Holy Saint and many others. Toronto, Canada based Legacy also made its mark during the time. A relatively obscure power trio that placed first at the national battle of the bands contest at the 1994 Kingdom Bound Festival (Buffalo, NY), Legacy returned to Kingdom Bound for a cameo
appearance in 1996, the same year it released its self-titled full length debut on Organic Music. The band describes itself as “incorporating influences of hard rock, metal, funk and groove”, all elements which come to the forefront throughout the project. The album is built around “bookend” standout pieces in that it opens to “Hypnotized” (catchy chorus and energetic vibe on this one) and closes with an equally able track in “Blue Lightning” (a pronounced hook makes its presence felt as does a riff that just won’t quit). In between we have a couple of quality up-tempo tracks – “For Christ’s Sake” and “Under The Sun” – along with mid-paced numbers “Take My Hand” and “Walk (Through The Valley). “Killer Games” reflects the groove oriented side to the bands songwriting skills and instrumental “TNT 160) the funk influence.Dave Bentley handles all lead vocal and guitar duties.Vocal wise, he brings the same type of grit and sass
characteristic to Jamie Rowe (Guardian) and Larry Worley (Fear Not)- although not quite as good in either case. Nevertheless, Dave puts in a solid performance and fully complements the blend of melodic metal and hard rock presented here. The same can be said for his guitar playing in that “Killer Games” “Under The Sun” and “Blue Lightning” all feature quality runs of lead guitar.Supporting Dave is the able rhythm section of bassist Andrew Rudd (check out his funky bass lines on “TNT 160”) and drummer Phil Oates.Production values, while not bad for a mid-nineties independent release, reflect an overall level of thinness. The rhythm guitar, for example, could have been beefed up and low end mixed cleaner but otherwise a fine effort. The album opens to “Hypnotized”, seven minutes of top of the line metal reflecting the confidence of the bands songwriting skills. The song begins its first minute and a half acoustically only to kick into high gear as the rhythm guitar steps forward. Charging ahead at the unrelenting tempo, “Hypnotized” does not miss a beat as it maneuvers through its robust bridge on the way to the gripping chorus that ensues. Several instrumental interludes only add to the songs appeal.“Never Gonna Leave It” is the only piece on Legacy I struggle with. The main problem to the song is the weakness of its chorus, with the main reason being the watered down feel to the backing vocals sustaining it. The end result is that the hook fails to draw you in as it should. That said, “Never Gonna Leave It” does feature a driving guitar riff and strong upbeat momentum but neither are strong enough to put it over the top. What we have here is a song of faith.“Killer Games” is just plain fun to listen to. The song is a groove-laden hard rocker with a touch of the blues, roaring its length at a mirthful tempo in showcasing quite the catchy hook – I challenge you to keep this one out of your head – and plenty of gritty guitar work. Some punchy bass lines from Rudd underscore the spirited scene. “Killer Games” compares God’s love to a lifetime warranty,“Walk (Through The Valley)” represents the albums lone ballad. A heartfelt piece, the song slowly moves forward acoustically until initiative picks up for an emotionally charged chorus upheld by a crisp rhythm guitar. Bentley adds a complementary stretch of moving lead work. As its title implies, “Walk (Through The Valley)” draws its lyrics from Psalm 23,The instrumental opening to “Take My Hand” features an interesting 70s flair with its highlighting traces of keyboards. The song proves a mid-paced rocker its remaining distance, put over the top by its muscular rhythm guitar sound and the gritty approach Bentley takes with his vocal delivery. This one is quite heavy but presents with a solid hook here as well. “Take My Hand” focuses on taking a stand in the faith,“For Christ’s Sake” moves in a more upbeat heading. Another brazen piece, the song plows forward in a spirited manner from the start, making an even changeover as it reaches a catchy chorus on the steadfast side of things. An extended instrumental section is carried by a hard charging rhythm guitar. Lyrically, this one talks about doing everything for “Christ’s sake”,“TNT 160”, a short (2:10) instrumental included to fill space, features a near perfect joining of edgy rhythm guitar and pronounced bass lines. On several occasions the song drops dead in its tracks for a bass guitar solo only to regain the settled impetus.“Under The Sun” gets underway to a quietly played guitar before it quickly takes off as the rhythm guitar fades in. The song proceeds to move its distance in steadfast fashion, standing out with the refreshing vocal melodies in its lively chorus and riveting run of lead guitar from Bentley. “Under The Sun” deals with how quickly time passes,Closing things out is one of the albums finer tracks, “Blue Lightning”. The song brings a dominant guitar riff- driving, determined and catchy as all get out. As a matter of fact, catchy would be the best way to describe “Blue Lightning” – the chorus here is absolutely huge – in that it brings a slight touch of the commercial but with just the right amount of crunch to prevent your attention from wavering. On “Blue Lightning” Legacy talks about its “metal mission” (kind of like “Minister By Night” by Sacred Warrior)(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
