BIOGRAPHY/REVIEW:
Bloodwork is an English band playing what is best described as Extreme metal simply because it doesn't quite fit into either black metal or death metal. Bloodwork is currently the only major Christian metal band from England,No news is good news eh? Bloodwork are busy working on their new album, so far ten songs finished. When more news is ready it will be posted here!,Bloodwork also have a new logo which can be found on the pic section of their Myspace site(http://www.holymetal.org/)
Starting in 2002 BLOODWORK mix the best parts of death and black metal to make extreme music that has a passionate, dark atmosphere. The lyrics seek to stimulate peoples minds and offer a ray of hope in this dying world. After a 2 song demo, 5 track EP last year and various live gigs around the UK, Europe and the world, BLOODWORK are now well under way to release their first full length album. When it's ready we'll let you know! BLOODWORK enjoy playing live a lot and have played at various festivals around the world as well as many underground gigs in their hometown of London. A new, self recorded 5 track EP entitled ‘Insufficient Flesh’ has just been released on the bands own label, the band wanting to use it to build on the previous well received 'In His Death' demo and pave the way for a full length towards the end of 2005. Work on musicianship and songwriting continues as they want to balance increasing heaviness and technicality with songs that people enjoy. The band love playing and writing extreme metal and strive to make a difference in London and further a field(http://www.holymetal.org/)
REVIEW(Insufficient Flesh)
Despite it seeming like Bloodwork have been around for years and years (it is in fact just three years), no doubt due to the previous incarnation of Paradox, this really is their first serious release. I could be wrong but as far as I know, this band is the only British Christian death metal band in existence (although there are members from North America and South Africa) and as such there is little to compare them to, apart from the much larger Scandinavian scene with which they have many connections and have played at many of their festivals. Last year they released a two-track limited edition sampler; both songs are on this EP and are a subtle improvement on the original. The other three tracks also seem to be an improvement in artistry and innovation, if not in listenability, which can be put down to some fairly good quality production. A good move was to include dual vocals, providing the complementing growls and screams, which nicely follows current trends. Lyrically, this is strong and purposeful stuff; with topics ranging from purity and absolution to the eternity and love of Christ. This is pretty good quality mid-paced death metal with influences coming in from neighbouring genres (doom, black, thrash, etc) that leaves me eagerly awaiting their full-length album but not yet fully impressed or satisfied(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
